The production and final use of our Rotary cut veneer of Poplar Poplar is a very light European softwood with only around 400 kg/m3. It grows very fast and is therefore rather cheap in comparison with other Rotary Cut Veneers. Poplar is extremely long-fibre and it is a good alternative to Beech for core veneer of chair shells and moulded plywood. Very thin Poplar Veneer is susceptible to get a little bit wavy, to prevent this, it is only efficient to peel good veneers with a minimum thickness of 2.0 mm, better is 2.5 mm. The waviness is caused by the very varying moisture content in the Poplar log. A big advantage of this is the very good handling in great thicknesses. It is good to peel up to 4.0 mm, for different kinds of use. The most important part of Poplar is used in the coreboard industrie, because it is a substitute to the meanwhile controversial campaign against tropical woods. The max. Iength of the veneer is 2300 mm, the max. width depends on the required quality and the thickness. Often widths of 400 mm are jointed together to great dimensions at the coreboard manufacturers. After this jointing process the veneer is as flat as possible for a most favorable handling up to the final product.
